RU 1st Generation?*

First Generation is defined as an individual whose parent(s) or guardian(s) did not obtain a bachelor's degree within the United States. You are still considered first-generation if your sibling(s) have completed a degree.

If you are involved with any organizations on campus please indicate here, OR if there is something you have accomplished/been part of on campus that you want others to know about, please highlight it here!

First Gen Experiences

We ask that you answer any or all of the questions below as you feel comfortable or as they apply to you. As part of our celebration of first-gen students at Rutgers-Camden, we plan to take quotes from these questions and share on our social media pages. Our overall goal is to highlight the diversity of the first-gen identity and experience of our community on campus.

How does being first-gen serve as a source of strength or as an asset to you as you navigate college?

What is it like being a first-gen college student? You can also discuss other aspects of your identity (i.e. your gender, religion, race/ethnicity, sexual orientation, etc.) that may influence how you experience being first gen.

What is something that you wish other people knew about being first-gen? OR What do you wish was available on campus to help support you as a first-gen student?

Describe (if applicable) any sources of support or resources (this could be on campus or off) that has been helpful for you as a first-gen student as you navigate college

What are some words of advice, tips, or just general things you want to share with other first-gen students to help their college experience be successful?

If you are comfortable, please attach an appropriate photo (i.e. a headshot/selfie) that we can utilize along with your words in our social media feature
