Request for Overtime/Pre-Acceptance/Generator Inspection

Inspections are considered to be after hours when they occur outside regular business hours. Fairfax County business hours are 7 a.m.-4 p.m. for vertical transportation equipment inspections.

  • After-hours inspections will be considered for pre-7 a.m., post-4 p.m. and/or Saturdays and Sundays upon request. Holiday hours requests will be case by case.
  • A four-hour minimum (with a maximum of eight hours) will be applied to any inspection request outside normal business hours for Saturdays, Sundays and holidays.
  • A two-hour minimum will be applied to any inspection request for weekdays before or after regular business hours.
  • The after-hours inspection fee is calculated by using the 30-minute increment cost listed in the Land Development Services Fee Schedule, based on time, not equipment.

Pre-Acceptance inspections are available during regular business hours by request only.

  • This inspection shall be scheduled within 30 calendar days of substantial/expected completion.
  • This inspection does not include test witnessing and is meant to be a walk-through to identify any major issues that may arise at acceptance.
  • This inspection does not guarantee an acceptance approval.
  • The fee per piece of equipment shall be computed using (4) 30-minute increments plus the 7% technology fee.

Stand-Alone Generator Testing/Witnessing can be scheduled up to 30 days prior to your scheduled Annual Inspection.

  • A separate cost for this inspection request will be assessed per generator for each bank of unit served.
  • The fee for this request is calculated as follows: “Minimum Fee (per device) plus Generator Test Fee (per bank of elevators served) plus Technology Fee.”
  • The fee will be assessed to the first FFXID in the bank of devices requested.
  • Should the request be after-hours (outside normal County business hours), an additional fee for after-hours will be assessed separately in 30-minute increments.
  • This fee will be assessed to the first FFXID in the bank of devices requested.
  • Should the Annual Inspection cancel, moving the generator inspection outside the 30-day window, the generator will be required to be reinspected.
