Volunteer Opportunity:

Invasive Plants Removal Project

Robeson Creek Greenway

Pittsboro, NC

Saturday, March 1st, 2025 10am - 3pm

This volunteer event will take place on a designated section of the Robeson Creek Greenway in Pittsboro. The Greenway is a paved trail adjacent to a section of Robeson Creek near downtown Pittsboro, managed by Pittsboro Parks and Recreation. There are numerous invasive plant species along the riparian buffer between the creek and the greenway. Our targeted section for removing invasive species is a berm area along the bank that has a mix of native and invasive plants. This project will improve an area in which the existing native plants can thrive with reduced competition from invasive species. With support from 2024/25 Syngenta RTP Community Grant funds awarded to the Piedmont Conservation Council (PCC), this is the second event organized in partnership with the Hispanic Liaison Program (El VĂnculo Hispano) to engage youth volunteers in conservation service projects in Chatham County. PCC and the environmental educators leading this program will welcome participation of Syngenta volunteers.
