Intended Audience: FCCB workshops are intended for licensed and license-exempt child care providers, family, friend, and neighbor providers, and other providers who care for children in mixed-age groups. Workshop content is centered on children ages birth - five, in home care settings. Workshops do not fulfill pre-licensure requirements and provide ECE units.
Training Description:
This course encourages participants to examine ways to provide a rich science environment for children. Participants will explore everyday science and practice principles of inquiry and documentation to enhance discovery and scientific learning. Topics include: environments and activities that encourage science development, introducing and documenting scientific inquiry, the outdoor “classroom”. The Center for Excellence in Child Development supports a holistic approach to preparing children for school, recognizing that young children learn through play and through relationships with caring adults. The School Readiness series blends research-based knowledge with the teaching skills needed to guide young learners.
