The Church of England Professional Qualification for Headship 2019–20

The Church of England Professional Qualification for Headship (CofEPQH) has been designed by the Church of England Foundation for Educational Leadership. We welcome school leaders from all schools joining the programme which will focus on your development to transform vision into reality.

Once the Foundation for Educational Leadership has received your form, it will be sent to the partner school for your area (Torre Church of England Academy - South West Region, Bennett Memorial Diocesan School - South East Region, St Paul’s Church of England Primary School - North Region, Manor Church of England Academy Trust - Midland Region) who will assess your application.

You will also need to identify a sponsor who endorses your application. They will complete a separate form accessed via www.cefel.org.uk/cofepqh/.

If you work at a Church of England School, you will need to confirm the suitability of your mentor with your diocesan education office before you complete the following form. You should also confirm that they are in support of your application.

Please note the closing date for applications is Friday, 2nd November 2018.

The Church of England Foundation for Educational Leadership will issue confirmation or otherwise of your place on the programme by Friday, 7th December 2018.


ALL the sections of this form will need to be completed in one go, as currently it cannot be saved and revisited at a later point.

You must have discussed your application and have got your sponsor’s support before you submit this form.

Your sponsor will need to complete a separate endorsement form which they will access via www.cefel.org.uk/cofepqh/.

Please ensure they do this alongside your application, by Friday, 2nd November 2018.

One of the requirements of this course is for you to nominate a suitable mentor. This cannot be the same person as your sponsor and it is likely that they will work at another school.

If you work in a Church of England school you will need to speak with your diocesan education office to agree on the best person for this role.

If you work within an opportunity area or a category 5 or 6 school, we will apply for a full scholarship fund from the Department of Education on your behalf.

If you believe you may be eligible for a Foundation Bursary award, then please complete the Bursary section below. Further information on the award process and criteria can be found via www.cefel.org.uk/cofepqh/.

We will contact you via email if we require additional information regarding either of these two strands of funding.

The Church of England Foundation for Educational Leadership will issue confirmation or otherwise of any funding awarded by Friday, 7th December 2018.
