The UPD 2019 Spring Citizens Police Academy Class:

The Spring Academy Class for 2019 will be held on Thursday evenings from 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM. The dates have not been set, however we anticipate the Academy to begin towards the end of February or beginning of March.

Please register now and we will notify you when we have the dates set for the Spring.

Time: 6 pm to 10 pm. Each night

The UPD Citizens Academy provides a great opportunity for citizens to interact with police officers from Unified Police Department and the Office of the Sheriff. You will learn about what our professionals do on a daily basis you will be given the opportunity to walk in the foot steps of a Police Officer by participating in police scenarios.

For Example: There will be demonstrations by the K9 Unit, Swat Team and the UPD Firing Range staff. You will also visit the Salt Lake County Jail . You will have a hands on experience with our Crime Lab, Dispatch Center and observe presentations from our Violent Crimes Unit, Metro Gang Unit, Narcotics Unit and more...

This academy is FREE of charge and meals will be provided every week with exception to opening night. Please note that this is an eight week course and will require a significant time commitment from you. There is a high demand for space in this academy and we ask that participants please commit to attending all 11 weeks, however, If you know in advance that you will be missing more than two weeks, please delay your request to attend and we will refer you to the next available academy. Please select the "Refer to Next CPA" on the drop down list below. We will notify you when the next academy will begin.

We understand life and work happen so we are allowing two weeks of excused absences. If you miss more than two weeks you may be disqualified from graduating the academy.

By submitting this form of interest, you are not guaranteed a reserved seat. Citizens who may have preference will be those individuals who live or work within UPD's Jurisdiction. However we have had many attend our academy in the past who do not reside or work within our Jurisdiction. The invitation is open and we encourage all citizens to apply. You will be notified if you have been selected.

I would encourage you to submit this form as soon as possible, as the class roster fills up fast.

The required age is 18 years and older and you will be subject to a criminal background check prior to the start of the academy.
