Chignik Intertribal Coalition Internship
BBNC is partnering with Chignik Intertribal Coalition (CIC) to offer a summer internship opportunity! BBNC Shareholders, descendants and spouses of shareholders that are highly motivated and seeking to advance their knowledge and skills are encouraged to apply.
Eligibility:
1. Applicants must be BBNC shareholders, shareholder spouses, or descendants of BBNC shareholders
2. Applicant must be 18 years or older
3. Ability to pass a background check
4. Complete Talent Bank Profile at mybbnc.net (do not put www).
Work location: The work assignment locations will be at Chignik Bay, Chignik Lagoon and Chignik Lake in Chignik, Alaska. Location of tasks include but are not limited to: ADF&G Chignik Weir and FRI (Fisheries Research Institute) camp located in the vicinity of Chignik Lake.
Hours: CIC's work schedule for the shareholder Intern will 8 AM-4 PM Monday through Friday, with one-hour unpaid lunch.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
● Ability to utilize Microsoft office and google drive applications
● Ability to use zoom and take part in meetings
● Strong interpersonal communication skills
● Strong traditional ecological knowledge
● Ability to recognize and exemplify adaptation exercises
Tasks:
● Collect required measurements: measure environmental conditions and changes at multiple spatiotemporal scales, co-produce innovative data products and visualization tools and assess current and future coastal hazard impacts to infrastructure and natural environment
● Maintain monitoring sites and serve as local observer
● Participate in training courses as necessary
● Create an online portal for Youth Photovoice Message to the World using photos and messages collected from youth in the CIC communities.
CIC agrees to provide appropriate and adequate training, supervision, and information, along with any necessary equipment to the shareholder intern to complete assigned work. While the internship placement is being hosted with CIC, the intern shall be considered an employee of BBNC.
