Student Advisory Board Application
Here at Iowa State University Recreation Services, our vision is “To be the national leader in student-centric campus recreation”. We cannot achieve this vision without the help and direction of our students. The purpose of this Board is to improve financial transparency, incorporate Career Readiness Competencies and student development, and create an open and healthy environment where we can innovate alongside our students to better serve the ISU community as a whole.
Requirements are as follows:
- Be a full time student with Iowa State University, for both Fall and Spring semesters
- Be able to physically attend monthly Student Advisory Board meetings (time TBD) in the State Gym Conference room
- Write a short essay as to why you want to be on the Board, describing how you will contribute and what you want to see the Board accomplish
- Give two references, one of who is on campus
- Complete 100% of their departmental onboarding by the first meeting
- Communicate effectively by checking their email, responding to events, and actively participating in meetings
The Student Advisory Board will consist of Tony Dirth, Ex-Officio, Laura Bittner, Chair, and Erica Gorden, Advisor. Additionally, the Student Advisory Board will consist of Recreation Services student employees and general student body members. The term of the member will be for both Fall and Spring semesters, unless there are extenuating circumstances. Non-Recreation Services employee members will be paid for 3 hours of onboarding at $8.50/hour. All members (includes elected Recreation Services employees) will be paid $13.00/hour and will be responsible for clocking themselves in and out appropriately.
