Study Abroad Course Approval Form
Guidelines for study abroad course approval:
- Complete one form per SEU equivalency
- You must submit a syllabus in order for the course to be reviewed. Contact your program, host university or study abroad office for assistance if needed.
- Note that while SEU course levels are in the thousands, most foreign university course levels are in the hundreds but it is roughly the same equivalent (ex: SEU 2000 course is roughly equivalent to a foreign 200 course).
- Many foreign undergraduate degrees are three years, instead of four. Look carefully at 4000 level courses as these are often graduate level courses.
- Courses you take abroad should be at the same level (i.e. intro, intermediate, advanced) as the course for which you wish to receive credit at SEU.
- Choose 8-10 courses for SEU approval.
- In the event that a course fills, cancels, or is not offered, receiving approval for multiple courses pre-departure allows for more convenience while abroad.
- SYLLABI MUST BE IN ENGLISH OR TRANSLATED INTO ENGLISH (INCLUDE ORIGINAL AND TRANSLATION)
- REMEMBER to check to the SEU General Education website for required learning outcomes BEFORE you submit a course for General education approval! That site is here: https://www.stedwards.edu/undergraduate/general-education/general-education-learning-outcomes
