Past Present Future: Understanding our Past to Create an Authentically Inclusive Future
Join a compassionate, mature, and considerate conversation around what it takes to build an equitable and inclusive Scouts Canada, together.
In these sessions, which are open to all Scouts Canada members, partners and other international Scouting organizations, we will open the discussion with these questions in mind:
- Is Scouting in Canada genuinely inclusive?
- What are the facts of our organization's past, and how do our traditions and the history our founder, Lord Robert Baden-Powell, affect us moving forward?
- Why are we apologizing to First Nations, Métis, and Inuit communities?
- What does the future of Scouts Canada look like?
Everyone attending this session will bring their own unique viewpoint in Scouting, and we will support how this impacts you by including a Circle of Care - someone with a trauma-informed background will be present to help provide emotional support for the difficult and uncomfortable topics that will come up, including a legacy of harm and hurt.
