Call for Session Proposals: 2025 APCO Western Regional Conference

The Association of Public-Safety Communications Officials (APCO) invites you to submit session proposals for the upcoming 2025 APCO Western Regional Conference, happening March 3 thru 6th in Portland, Oregon. This year’s theme, “Taking Public Safety to New Heights,” aims to elevate the conversation around public safety communications and technology, leadership, operations, and resilience.

  • Leading with Purpose: Exploring leadership theories, practices, and stories of inspirational leadership within public safety communications.
  • Pursuing Operational Excellence: Best practices, challenges, and innovations in the operation of public safety communication centers.
  • Tech Talks: The latest technological advancements impacting public safety communications.
  • Lessons Learned: Case studies and after-action reports from real-world incidents.
  • Resiliency & Longevity: Strategies for career longevity, mental health, and building resilient public safety communication operations.
  • Deeper Dives: In-depth presentations offering extended exploration into any of the above topics or cross-cutting topical discussions. These sessions are 100 minutes in length, allowing for a deeper analysis and understanding.

Requested length of time for the proposed presentation (45 or 100 minutes).

Biography of the main presenter with overview of qualifications and speaking/training experience. List any additional presenters.

A 150 word or less overview of your session, including a summary of the topic and the key learning objectives or skills attendees will gain by attending the sessions. This is the primary element of your proposal that the reviewers will use to evaluate your session.

Describe your takeaways and how you can help attendees share what they learned. We highly encourage handouts or electronic copies of written takeaways for attendees to take back to their agency. We want to help attendees to competently share the information because overtime is high at agencies and they cannot send as many people as they have been able to in the past.

Provide any reference information to help us understand your presentation history. For example, video or link to video of previous presentations, previous classes you have taught and their content, examples of positive presentation reviews, or describe your interest and abilities around presenting at conference.
