Information for Michigan Youth Institute

Participants can attend the 2025 World Food Prize Michigan Youth Institute by attending in-person on the campus of the MSU in East Lansing, MI or by attending online/virtually using Zoom. Those attending online/virtually will need to have their own individual computer, tablet, or phone in order to participate, as the program will be interactive. The agenda for in-person and virtual attendees will vary slightly at times to maximize the experience for participants in both attendance formats.

A chaperone is who will be bringing the student to the event and will also attend the event in person or virtually

A mentor, on the other hand, helps students with their Global Challenge Research Paper, supporting the student while writing the Global Challenge research paper.

Some people may choose to be both a chaperone and a mentor, helping with both the event and the research. When you register, you can let us know if you’ll be a chaperone, a mentor, or both.

*If for any reason I am unable to participate in the Institute, I will ensure my student is supported, either with another teacher/mentor or by working with my student ahead of time to ensure their preparation.

*All youth participating in the World Food Prize Michigan Youth Institute must complete an enrollment (or reenrollment) in the Michigan 4-H 2024/2025 program. A parent or guardian must complete the enrollment for minor youth.

Parents/guardians will go to https://v2.4honline.com/#/user/sign-in to enroll their child in Michigan 4-H (if the WFP Michigan Youth Institute will be their first Michigan 4-H experience) or re-enroll (if they have been a 4-H member in the past but are not enrolled in the 2024/2025 4-H program year)

Enrollment/Reenrollment in Michigan 4-H is free and is required for youth in order to participate in the World Food Prize Michigan Youth Institute. Download the Michigan 4-H Online Family Enrollment Guide for enrollment instructions
