GLCU Foundation for Financial Empowerment 2025 Scholarship Application

The GLCU Foundation for Financial Empowerment believes in empowering our communities, members, and employees through education. That’s why we’re awarding eight $2,500 scholarships to students attending or bound for college.


Applying has never been easier, and there’s no essay required. Simply submit the below application and make a video of yourself answering three provided questions.


Eligibility:

  • Must be planning to attend or currently attending an accredited post-secondary institution or vocational/trade school in the Fall semester of 2025
  • Applicants must have a minimum of a 2.50 cumulative GPA on a 4.00 scale
  • Video submissions must be no longer than 5 minutes
  • Must be a GLCU member*


Award Criteria: Recipients of the scholarships are chosen through a process that evaluates the following areas: video answers, academic success, community/school involvement, and work history.

Scholarships will be awarded during a ceremony at Great Lakes Credit Union Bryn Mawr location, located at 8430 W. Bryn Mawr, Suite 500, Chicago, IL on XX.

On YouTube, create a video essay of yourself addressing the below questions in 5 minutes or less. This is a required piece of your application to be considered. For the review committee to access it must be viewable publicly. Please introduce yourself and answer the questions to the best of your ability.

  • How can GLCU best serve its members of your age?

Select one of the following questions (in addition):

  • Community is an important part of GLCU. What impact has your community had on you and what would you do to improve your community?
  • Tell us about the impact of an influential person in your life and how they helped mold you into the person you are today.
  • If you could give your younger self advice, what would that be?
  • Give an example of a time that you stood up for what was right in a difficult situation.
  • What is one idea you have to get both elementary student and high school students excited about personal finance and saving?
