2025 Shane Stanford Bursary for Black Youth

YMCA Application Form

The following application form is for the Shane Stanford Bursary. You must meet the qualifications for your application to be considered. We will announce the recipient of the Bursary the week of June 16th, 2025. The successful candidate must show proof of current enrollment at a post-secondary institution to qualify for the Bursary. This year's Bursary is for $2,500.

Your answers should be complete and support your application, demonstrating why you feel you are a good candidate for consideration. Your submission will be reviewed by a selection committee and scored based on the following criteria.

Ten (10) marks – Community leadership, including community involvement, volunteerism, and mentorship of others

Ten (10) marks – Need for this bursary to overcome financial barriers

Ten (10) marks – Your drive, motivation and aspirations beyond post-secondary education

Bursary Eligability

Please confirm that you meet all the following eligibility criteria by checking the boxes.

I identify as a member of the Black Community.*

I am a Canadian citizen, a permanent resident, or a refugee claimant.*

Post-secondary programs must be of a minimum of one year in duration, and there are no restrictions on the discipline or field of study.

I am a student enrolled in post-secondary studies at an eligible institution* starting first year in the 2025-2026 academic year:*

I am currently in Grade 12 and reside in the GTA (The city of Toronto, Peel, Halton, York, or Durham regions)*
