Start Service
A deposit may be required to start services:
- In general, payment of a deposit that is equal to two times the average monthly bill is required to start services.
- The deposit is applied against any outstanding balance when the utility account is closed or refunded to the account after 12 months of good payment history.
- Applicants for residential utility service can waive the deposit by providing a letter of reference from another utility company, which must show positive payments for 12 months, no returned checks, no disconnections, and no more than two late payments.
- Applicants for non-residential utility services must pay a deposit before the utility service will be connected.
Fees may be assessed to turn services on:
- Water turn on fee: $40
- Water turn on fee after hours (after 3:30 pm): $80
- Water read for change fee (transfer): $45
- Gas turn on fee (next business day and beyond): $80
- Gas turn on fee (same day): $140
- Gas read for change fee (transfer): $50
Proof of Residence or Ownership to Start Service:
- Applicants requesting utility service as an owner must provide proof of a settlement statement, deed, title or purchase agreement.
- Applicants requesting utility service as a tenant must provide proof of a lease or a written letter of authorization from the owner of property, if a lease is not available.
