IT Projects Request
Please provide a name to identify the project
Example: HIPAA data will be required to run on its own, stand alone system. This will involve IT systems, PAWS and Networking to work together to create a new program, design and install hardware throughout the institution. This will also require Physical Plants assistance in possible creating secure workplaces that block visual access to the various computers.
Enter either the mandated date by which the project must be completed or when the requestor would like the work to be finished
Does your request meet the following criteria [OP 56.03]? https://www.ttuhsc.edu/administration/documents/ops/op56/op5603.pdf
Does this request have a definite beginning and a definite end? Temporary only refers to the work being requested and does not apply to the product, service, or result of the project. Most projects are undertaken to create a lasting outcome. EXAMPLE: A software program created to collect information from patients for research purposes is expected to have a result lasting for years. It is a temporary endeavor to design, create, and deploy the program, but the use of the program is not temporary
Some projects may be similar in nature, but have differences that make it unique (i.e. different vendors, suppliers, locations, etc.). Daily operations or maintenance generally do not constitute a project as they typically are unending and therefore not unique.
EXAMPLE: Installing the operations system on one machine would be a single task; however, installing the operating system on multiple machines, creating an image from which to copy for each system and instituting a process by which to follow would be considered a multiple tasks operation.
Does the request require you to build or purchase a new software application and/or interface?
Does the request enhance or maintain an existing software?
IR = IT; does the request involve IT research, detectability, practicality (is it doable?), or testing the idea? EXAMPLE: Conducting an investigation to see if a new software program will address a specific need by using a focus group or test bed.
Does the request provide an IT solution to improve, enhance, or merge business?
An example of a system is Nanner, an example of data is HIPAA or FERPA; will the request improve systems or data to maximize efficiency?
Will IT hardware be affected? This could include any product that will affect IT video, network, or data center's framework.
