NAC 389.488 - Exemption from physical education.

This is an application to propose expanding the list of approved activities and/or club sports that qualify for a physical education exemption. Per NAC 389.488, only a school district or a charter school representative may submit an application.

Provide a detailed description of the competitive club activity or sport, including its structure, goals, and how it aligns with a physical education course (e.g., promoting physical fitness, teamwork, or skill development).

Describe the eligibility and participation requirements for students to participate in this activity or sport.

How does this activity ensure students engage in active and meaningful physical activity for at least 120 hours (60 hours for a half-credit exemption) outside of the regular school day?

How does this activity or sport develop physical fitness, motor skills, or health-related outcomes? Please specify the skills or benefits students gain.

Is this activity or sport competitive in nature? Provide examples of tournaments, matches, or other competitive elements.

Who oversees the activity (e.g., certified coaches, instructors, or organizations)?

Does this activity require regular training for competitive events?

Describe how this activity is similar to a physical education course and how it supports the learning of the Nevada Academic Content Standard for Physical Education.
