Office for Research Innovation Awards (ORIA) Nomination Form


Nominations are now being accepted for the OR Innovation Awards. The nomination period will close on May 1, 2025.



Nominations should include:


A clear description of the nominee's innovation and its significance.


The impact and benefits of the innovation.


How the innovation demonstrates excellence in one of the following categories:


  • Operations: Developed processes, tools or resources that substantially improved day-to-day operations, enhanced effectiveness and productivity, or resolved challenges.


  • Partnerships: Created opportunities to make meaningful contributions and navigate institutional challenges through effective partnership-building.


  • Community Building: Showed what can be achieved when we prioritize and promote our shared values.


  • Open: Developed an innovative idea, process, or solution that has significantly improved our collective work or community, in a manner not addressed by the previous three categories.


The nomination form includes the following questions to guide you in creating a strong submission:


Question 1 of 3: What is your nominee's innovation?


Please keep your response to one brief paragraph, focusing on what the innovation is. Questions 2 and 3 will cover its impact and alignment with unit and department values.


Question 2 of 3: Please describe how the innovative idea, project or accomplishment of the person you are nominating made a positive difference or had a significant effect.


Please keep your response to one brief paragraph. Think about these questions: Why is this innovation important? What tangible outcomes resulted from it? How do you know it had a significant and positive impact?


Question 3 of 3: How does your nominee's innovation support the goals and priorities of the unit and department?


Please keep your response to one brief paragraph. Think about these questions: How does the innovation align with unit and department goals? What evidence shows this alignment? How are the OR values reflected in the innovation?
