Fall '25 & Winter '26 BIOS Mini Course Proposal

Please submit your mini-course proposal information below. Both new and returning courses must complete this form.

The form may take 20-30 minutes for completion. We recommend preparing all of your information on instructors, course descriptions, learning goals, and proposed schedule before beginning the proposal. To avoid loss of data, we do recommend completing the proposal in one sitting.

*PLEASE NOTE*: Students that are proposing courses and/or participating as course instructors may be subject to eligibility and participation requirements for their teaching work. We will follow up with individuals of approved courses to discuss those logistics.

Questions? Visit the OGE website for more information about mini-courses. You can also reach out to lemontes@stanford.edu with any questions not able to be answered on the website.

Please submit any course proposals for Autumn '25 and Winter '26 by 5pm on Friday, June 13th. Spring and Summer course proposals will open in the Fall quarter.

New Course Information

A Course Description is a short, content-filled statement (max 100 words) which informs a student about the subject matter, approach and breadth of a course. The description is not a marketing piece nor a syllabus, but will be posted on ExploreCourse for students to reference when planning their program.

For further guidance visit the registrar website

For examples of Mini Course Descriptions see ExploreCourses

For guidance on creating learning goals, please refer to the Office of the Vice Provost for Teaching and Learning

Course learning goals can be changed later: VPTL consultants are available to meet with you to help craft and refine your course goals for the targeted audience.

Courses should be scientific-content based, interdisciplinary in nature, and/or address high-priority areas in graduate and postdoctoral training.
