ECE Bridge to Work Program

Interest Form

The ECE Bridge to Work Program prepares newcomers to Canada for successful employment in child care.


This FREE 14-week program includes:

  • 2 weeks of pre-employment training to prepare you for the Canadian child care workplace
  • 12 weeks of paid work placement at a YMCA of Greater Toronto child care setting


Participants must:

  • be at least 18 years old
  • live in the Greater Toronto Area
  • have completed post-secondary education outside of Canada in a field relevant to child care (example: Early Childhood Education, Teaching, Daycare or Nursery School)
  • have work experience in child care or related field from outside Canada
  • be a Permanent Resident of Canada or Convention Refugee with a valid open work permit
  • have English language skills at Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) level 7 or higher
  • be available to work Monday to Friday, between 7am-6pm

As per Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC), ECE Bridge to Work Program participants must be either a permanent resident or convention refugee, or must have a valid work permit with MOME2023 remarks. If you do not hold one of these statuses, please select Other Immigration Status in Canada from the selection below.


A Permanent Resident is a person who has been granted permanent resident status by immigrating to Canada


A Convention Refugee refers to individuals who have been granted refugee status based on the Convention relating to the Status of Refugees, which is an international treaty adopted by the United Nations.
