2023 Summer Film Program Scholarship Application

The Summer Film Program will provide scholarships and a unique arts education opportunity to young creatives who provide interest and talent for screenwriting and filmmaking.


Led by industry professionals, AFF’s Summer Film Program provides campers with the equipment and instruction needed to create their very own short films.


Our instructors will be there to guide students through every step of the filmmaking process, from conception through the final product!


A limited number of scholarships are available for students interested in attending the Summer Film Camp Classes and Teen Filmmaking Workshops. Recipients will be awarded free enrollment in one (1) Summer Film Camp class or workshop.


Incomplete applications will not be considered.

Students must include the following documents with their application:


1) A personal essay (not to exceed one 8.5 x 11 page, double-spaced) explaining the following:


  • How this scholarship will help you meet personal and/or educational goals.
  • What do you hope to learn at Austin Film Festival's Summer Film Program?
  • How attending the camp or workshop benefits you.
  • Anything else you would like us to know in reference to attending our summer film program.


2) A letter from your parent(s)/legal guardian(s) explaining their financial need for this scholarship.


3) One letter of recommendation from a non-family member (include contact information for reference).


4) An official transcript or report card from your current school.
