Institute on Medicare and Medicaid Payment Issues Call for Speakers

With over 40 hours of instruction for individuals at all levels of experience, AHLA’s Institute on Medicare and Medicaid Payment Issues is the country’s premier legal education opportunity relating to federal health care payment programs, providing thorough guidance on legal, compliance and operational issues challenging health care providers today.

Topics include, but are not limited to:

  • Medicare and Medicaid basics, program changes, audits, appeals, and litigation
  • Fraud and abuse enforcement trends and compliance strategies
  • Coding, billing, and reporting requirements
  • Considerations for contracting, including provider transactions and value-based care arrangements
  • Compliance issues relating to particular providers, settings, and types of care
  • Waivers and preemption
  • And much more

To submit an idea for AHLA's Educational Content, please fill out the information on the form. AHLA values diverse, equitable, inclusive, and accessible participation within the Association. Guided by these values, the Association strongly encourages and embraces meaningful participation of all individuals as it leads health law to excellence through education, information, and dialogue. Different perspectives matter. Great topics often include speakers or authors from different backgrounds – private practice attorneys, in-house counsel, government representatives, consumer advocates, consultants, academicians, senior and junior – pairing up to present different views on the submitted topic.

In-Person Conference proposal:

  1. If you are submitting a session proposal with co-speakers, please be sure to confirm their participation before submitting their name.
  2. One conference session cannot have two speakers from the same firm/organization.
  3. Suggest a very advanced or masters level topic. Most sessions submitted hit the “intermediate” level of audience knowledge. We’d like to include some very advanced topics submitted by qualified speakers.

Speakers at AHLA conferences are expected to provide a current, practical, and quality oral presentation, PowerPoint presentation, with an accompanying paper. The detailed paper and practical take-aways turned in by speakers are what distinguish our conferences from those of our competitors. In addition, many states review the materials and often will not grant approval of sessions that do not meet their material requirements. The Association encourages speakers to provide practical take-aways, such as sample contract language, draft policies, or checklist as a part of their written materials. Please indicate what type of take-aways you anticipate providing.

Multiple documents can be attached. Please include a bio for each speaker in PDF or Word.
