These locations are referred to as "helisurfaces". Helisurfaces can only be used occasionally. In some areas, their use may be subject to administrative authorization. Pilots must hold an authorization to use helisurfaces valid on the national territory, issued by the prefect of the department where the driver is domiciled or by the prefect of police for people living in Paris or abroad. Habilitation à utiliser les hélisurfaces Arrêté du 27 mai 2008 modifiant l’arrêté du 6 mai 1995 relatif aux aérodromes et autres emplacements utilisés par les hélicoptères.
