2025 Co-op Student of the Year Award

Thank you for taking the time to nominate your co-op student! This award recognizes the outstanding contributions of the student in the areas of academic achievement, workplace performance, innovation and contributions, extracurricular activities, involvement within the community, and involvement within the Co-op program at Guelph.


After you complete this form, the student will be notified that you have nominated them. The student will then need to submit a personal statement, resume and an optional portfolio to complete the nomination package using the form that is emailed to them.


You will also be copied on this email as an FYI. Please encourage your student to complete their portion of the nomination package as soon as possible.


Summer 2025 Nomination Deadline for Employers to submit nominations is August 29, 2025.

Co-op Awards Donation (optional)

The Co-op Student of the Year Award includes a $1,000 cash prize, a certificate of honour, and a permanent name placement on the awards plaque.


Additionally, we host an annual Co-op Awards Reception to celebrate the contributions of all nominees and award winners.


Your donation would be used to support the entire Co-op Awards program.

Letter of Support & Work Performance Evaluation

Please share what led you to nominate this student for the Co-op Student of the Year award. Please include the impact your co-op student had on your team or organization. We have included some questions below that you may want to address in your letter of support.


  • What qualities and skills make this student stand out?
  • Did this student perform above your expectations? Can you describe specific instances where they exceeded your expectations?
  • How did the student benefit your team or organization?
  • Did the student achieve something significant such as saving the company money or bringing about new research or business opportunities? Can you provide specific examples of these contributions?
  • Did this student improve company or staff morale, the quality of work, or the level of service? How have these improvements impacted your organization?
  • Would you invite this student back for another co-op term or consider offering permanent employment after graduation?
  • Has this student’s performance encouraged you to hire other University of Guelph co-op students?
