Wildfire Defense Mesh Program

Embers cause up to 90% of home & business ignitions during wildfires. Embers can travel ahead of the wildfire and ignite spot fires on, inside, or around a structure.

The City of Berkeley is providing Wildfire Defense Mesh to residents in Fire Zones 2 & 3.

This service is paid for by Measure FF, approved by Berkeley voters in 2020.

Vent Screen Order

Your home may have multiple types of vents that vary in size. We can provide metal mesh of different sizes. Please make sure that you have researched the type, size, and quantity of mesh that your home requires.

Gable Vent/Off-Ridge Vent Mesh: 24" x 19"

Enter the total number of gable vent mesh you need.

Foundation Vent Mesh: 7.5" x 16"

Enter the total number foundation vent mesh you need.

Soffit Vent Screens: 22" x 3.5"

Enter the total number of soffit vent mesh you need.

Gutter Guards: 5" x 4'

Enter the total number of gutter guards that you need.

Deck Screening: Rolls of 24", 36", or 49"

Important note: Only decks 4' or lower need to be screened in. If your deck is above 4', it does not need deck screening.

Deck screening comes in rolls of 24", 36", or 49" in height and can be up to 50' in length. Enter the desired height and length of deck screening rolls you need.

Please select the pick up date for your mesh and gutter guards.*

Mesh can be picked up from the Murray Street entrance of the Berkeley Fire Department Warehouse, 1011 Folger Avenue.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Access the warehouse entrance from Murray Street. There will be a fire department employee at this entrance.
