Office Cleaner

Chemonics International, Inc., is a US-based international development consulting company, operating in over 95 countries, that is implementing the USAID funded Urban Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) project in Ethiopia.


Chemonics seeks an Office Cleaner for the USAID Urban Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) Activity. The purpose of this Activity will be to support accelerated access to safe, adequate, inclusive, and resilient WASH services targeting urban and peri-urban areas. The Activity will work to achieve this through four complementary objectives: 1) Enable and professionalize WASH service providers; 2) Foster markets for pro-poor and inclusive WASH services; 3) Strengthen WASH planning, budgeting, and service delivery oversight; and 4) Strengthen accountability among urban WASH sector actors.


The Office Cleaner supports daily project office activities by providing cleaning the office and tea/coffee service to the project staff. Through these efforts, the Office Cleaner will ensure and maintain an efficient office environment. This position will report to the HR and Administration Manager and be based in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.


Principal Duties and Responsibilities


  • Emptying waste bins, transporting waste material to designated collection points.
  • Clean and mop office floors by using a variety of equipment and supplies
  • Wipe or wash or polish desks, chairs, ledges, windowsills, cupboards, shelves and fitments and make sure that dusts are removed using appropriate cleaning materials,
  • Wash toilets, urinals, hand basins, sinks, and drinking fountains and ensure they are sanitized properly.
  • Replenish towels, soap and toilet paper in restrooms on a regular basis.
  • Ensure that the office kitchen and equipment is properly cleaned and maintained.
  • Prepare and serve tea and coffee for project staff and guests.
  • Make sure the availability of cleaning and tea/coffee supplies stock and order at a lead time.
  • Follow all health and safety regulations.
  • Carry out any other reasonable duties within the overall function of the job.


Qualifications


  • High school diploma
  • Proven experience as a cleaner or in another role,
  • At least 2+ years of experience,
  • Excellent interpersonal and oral communications skills;
  • Fluency in Amharic preferred.
  • Fluency in English is advantageous.
