Santa Clara County Teacher Apprenticeship Program
Thank you for being interested in the Santa Clara County Teacher Apprenticeship Program! We are in partnership with De Anza College to offer an opportunity for you to obtain a Child Development Teacher Permit!

Eligibility:
-At least 18 years of age
-Currently working at a licensed FCC home or a CSPP that is part of the Santa Clara Quality Matters Program.
-Work at least 25 hours per week for an FCC home or a CSPP center.
-Commit to 2000 hours to complete the program (1000 hours can be counted for incumbent workers in our Quality Matters sites)
-Must be formally employed (W-2 employee, eligible to work in the US)
-Able to make a 2- 2.5 year commitment to the apprenticeship program starting in Winter Quarter, January 2025
Note: The program completion date will vary based on the number of hours worked per week and the completion of course content for the Teacher Permit.
-Must be working and attending classes as a participant in the program.
-Have taken all of the core courses for the Associate Teacher Permit, or have an Associate Teacher Permit.
-Must be able to submit unofficial transcripts.
-Must complete 16-semester units/24 quarter units in General Education classes by the end of the program (arranged by yourself), including at least one course in each of the following areas: humanities/or fine arts, social science, math, and/or science, and English and/or language arts.
-Ability to complete college coursework in English with a grade of C or better.
-Meet immunization requirements per employer and licensing.
-Must be available to attend ECE classes with the apprenticeship cohort on Saturdays.
-Must be able to attend tutoring sessions on weeknights.
-Must work with a mentor and attend mentor sessions.
Note: If there are available spots (not guaranteed), current FCC Home Owners can apply as an On-The-Job Training participant.
-Those with ECE degrees are not eligible, but those with non-ECE college degrees can apply.
