Bishop Award Nominee Application

Bishop Sue Briner values young people and their God-given gifts and talents and has made it a priority to recognize youth members of our synod who have served God, their church, and their community with distinction. The Youth Leadership Award Committee gathers nominations and information each year, removes identifying pieces (names, congregations, etc.) so the individual remains anonymous and submits top nominees for Bishop to select one male and one female recipient of the Bishop's Youth Leadership Award. All nominees are recognized and the recipients are announced at the Sr High Youth Gathering. The recipients are given a $1,000 scholarship and a replica pendant of the Bishop's cross and their name listed on a plaque in the Synod Office in Seguin.

High School youth in the Southwestern Texas Synod who are currently enrolled in the 12th grade and have made a significant contribution of service with their time and talents to their church and community can be nominated. Rostered and Youth leaders may nominate one or two youth from their congregation. Immediately following receipt of nomination, those nominated will be contacted to complete an application and provide references from 3 individuals--a rostered leader, an adult, and a peer. Only once the application and references have been submitted, by the deadline, will the youth be considered for the award.

Nominee Applications Due January 31st.
