Media Request Form
The Salt Lake City Police Department and its Public Relations Unit are committed to providing journalists with information about public safety incidents that impact the neighborhoods and people in our city. That commitment is unwavering and extends beyond regular office hours. We recognize that news doesn't rest, and neither should our availability.
This form is a tool allowing greater access to the Salt Lake City Police Department as we continue to ensure the accurate and timely release of information to serve the needs of community members and media.
Our media line (801) 799-6397 and our PR Unit e-mail (PolicePRUnit@slcgov.com) will always remain open for you to reach us. The new Media Request Form will now establish a system of internal redundancy and accountability and will ensure that media inquiries – even after hours – are promptly addressed and tracked.
As we work to improve after-hour media requests, media are asked to still fill out the form, at your convenience. Media may also call SLCPD PIO line. After-hours, this line is forwarded to a SLC911 supervisor. Please inform the call taker you are a journalist placing a press call and provide as much information as possible. Please note SLC911 cannot provide information directly. The message will be forward to the on-duty Watch Commander. Filling out the form online ensures a notification, and thereby tracking and accountability metric, is sent to the PIOs. The Watch Commander will return your call or may notify the on-call PIO for assistance.
