The Title V PPOHA Graduate Fellowship Application

The Title V Promoting Postbaccalaureate Opportunities for Hispanic Americans (PPOHA) Program, established graduate student fellowships to offset the costs of attending a graduate program at Albizu University – Miami Campus.


Eligibility Criteria


The following stipulations are established in regard to fellowship applications and awards. In order to be eligible to apply for a graduate student fellowship, the following criteria must be met.


  • Up to $5,000 awards are available only to applicants enrolled in a graduate program with a GPA of 3.25 or above.


  • To maintain eligibility for the fellowship, applicants must continue to meet the academic requirements of the program and demonstrate satisfactory academic progress as outlined in the Albizu University Academic Catalog.


  • All applicants must be eligible for financial aid and have completed a FAFSA for the academic year 2024-25.
  • The PPOHA statute allows scholarships, assistantships, fellowships, and other financial assistance for low-income students only. A low-income student is a student whose family’s taxable income does not exceed 150 percent of the amount equal to the poverty level, as established by the U.S. Census Bureau.

Complete the graduate student fellowship application with the following attachments:


  • Anticipated Fall 2024 schedule


  • Unofficial graduate school transcripts



  • Essay in a MS Word document of no more than 500 words responding to the following prompt:
  • Describe your post-graduation vision, outlining three concrete ways you plan to positively impact your local and/or global community. Additionally, please address how your academic and professional experiences have shaped this vision and how you intend to apply any relevant skills or knowledge gained during your program to achieve your goals.
  • Your name and any other identifying information cannot be in the essay.


The application is available beginning April 1, 2024 until 11:59 PM, May 3, 2024


All documents must be included in the application. Incomplete applications will not be considered.
