Letter of Intent
For limited submission competitions, interested parties are required to provide a letter of intent to submit. This process achieves 2 important objectives:
- To reduce the burden in preparing a pre-proposal for a limited submission for which we do not anticipate significant internal competition.
- To identify faculty review panels in a timely and efficient manner for competitive limited submissions by having advance notice as to the fields of study for applicants.
This allows us to notify applicants of decisions as quickly as possible, allowing for maximum time to prepare a competitive proposal.
If the number of LOIs received does not exceed the institutional limit, the applicant(s) will be notified that they are able to proceed as soon as possible. If the number of LOIs received exceeds the institutional limit for a given competition, Research Development will subsequently solicit pre-proposals from applicants and host an internal competition in which pre-proposals will be reviewed by UVM faculty. Limited competitions will be available on InfoReady one or two days after the UVM letter of intent deadline, if the number of received LOIs exceeds the institutional limit.
Please reach out to Research Development with any questions. For more information on UVM's limited competition process, please visit the Active Limited Competitions page.
