WITT FAMILY SCHOLARSHIP

ELIGIBILITY

  • Declared major in Rhetoric and Writing with the following at the end of the Spring 2024 semester:
  • Minimum 3.3 University of Texas at Austin cumulative grade point average
  • 45 completed credit hours, including 24 hours in residence
  • 9 completed credit hours in Rhetoric and Writing, including 6 hours in residence
  • Undergraduate standing (no baccalaureate degree conferred prior to May 2024)
  • Recipients must be enrolled full-time at The University of Texas at Austin during the 2025-26 academic year.


INSTRUCTIONS

To apply, submit the following by midnight March 15th, 2025:

ESSAY

Submit a two-page, double-spaced essay on the Op-Ed below.

Read the attached op-ed that recently appeared in the Daily Texan. Either write an evaluation of the writer's kairos and rhetorical strategies or write a response op-ed addressed to the Texan.

HONORS AND ACTIVITIES

Below or on a separate sheet, list your honors and activities, such as the following: scholarships or fellowships; research; Internship; honors programs or societies; student organizations--offices held; volunteer activities. Do not include high school accomplishments. Include a brief description of each item, as well as dates.
