Maintenance of Equity: High-poverty Schools

CDE is required to report to the U.S. Department of Education (USDE) the state’s high poverty Local Education Agencies (LEAs) and high poverty schools within each LEA. It is the responsibility of the LEA to identify high-poverty schools and submit those to CDE. In order to minimize burden on LEAs, CDE has identified the high-poverty schools within each LEA based on the total number of schools within the LEA, based on 2020 Student October data. LEAs may either keep the list identified by CDE or submit its own list of schools. Please complete this form to select data preferences. Should you have questions or need assistance, please contact Alan Shimmin (shimmin_a@cde.state.co.us), Mackenzie Owens (owens_m@cde.state.co.us), or Nazie Mohajeri-Nelson (Mohajeri-Nelson_n@cde.state.co.us). Thank you!

If an LEA requests that CDE use the grade span methodology for identification of high-poverty schools, CDE will provide the LEA with a list of schools, grade spans, FRL percentages, and the required number of schools to be identified. LEAs have discretion in which schools are selected, and will have the opportunity to self-select high-poverty schools from the listing.
