The Ed Miller Memorial Scholarship Award

The Ed Miller Memorial Scholarship Award was established to honor the incredible legacy of legendary faculty member and coach, Mr. Miller. The award is presented to a rising Senior who displays academic achievement in Social Studies and/or World Languages and best demonstrates a strong interest in foreign studies with the intention of pursuing some aspect of international studies at the next level.


Retired Lt. Gen. Mark Ramsay '77, who founded this scholarship, credits Mr. Miller as one of two teachers who was a very positive influence in his life. The scholarship is applied toward Senior year tuition at John Carroll.


Deadline to Apply: March 28, 2025


Eligibility: Current Juniors with a 3.5 or better GPA who are enrolled in Social Studies and World Languages. Applicants must also be enrolled in a Social Studies and/or World Language course for Senior year.

The winners will be chosen by the Ed Miller Scholarship Committee, together with the Advancement Office, based on the merits of the essays. The John Carroll Advancement Office will notify winners in writing. The awards will be presented annually by Mark Ramsay ‘77.
