RCCI Meal Pattern Exemptions

The USDA allows state agencies to extend exemptions to Residential Child Care Institutions (RCCIs) for the following: serving multiple age/grade groups [USDA Memos SP 38-2012 and SP 48-2013], offer versus serve [USDA OVS Manual 15-16], and milk variety [USDA memo SP 10-2012 v.9]. Serving Multiple Age/Grade Groups Exception Information

As required by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), the above named Residential Child Care Institution (RCCI), is requesting an exception to the National School Lunch Program (NSLP) and School Breakfast Program (SBP) as defined by the Healthy, Hunger Free Kids Act of 2010. This request is based on the reasons listed below.

Applying for an Exception if Serving Multiple Age/Grade Groups.*

This exception allows RCCIs to serve one meal pattern when the age/grades being served span more than one age/grade group.

Due to safety and separation concerns at this facility, the above named institution agrees to serve meal patterns for the highest age/grade group served to all residential students.

Offer Versus Serve Exemption Information

As required by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), the above named Residential Child Care Institution (RCCI), is requesting an exemption to the National School Lunch Program (NSLP) requirement to implement the Offer Versus Serve (OVS) meal service system in grades 9-12. This request is based on the reasons listed below.

Milk Variety Exemption Information

This request is based on the reasons listed below.

Applying for a Milk Variety Exemption.*

This exemption allows RCCIs to meet the milk variety requirement over the week rather than daily.

Due to safety concerns at this facility, the above named institution agrees to meet the milk variety requirement over the week.
