The approving individuals confirm that the appropriate faculty members have conducted an initial evaluation of the courses listed below for their applicability to the specified masters or doctoral degree, in accordance with the following guidelines:

OPTION ONE: For doctoral programs offering master's degrees or graduate certificates:

  • Up to 9 hours of Lamar University graduate certificate or master's coursework (5000 level or above) may be applied toward doctoral-level course requirements.
  • An additional 3 hours (for a total of 12 hours) of Lamar University graduate certificate coursework may be credited if at the doctoral level (6000 or above).


OPTION TWO: For master's degree programs or graduate certificates:

  • Up to 9 hours of Lamar University doctoral coursework (6000 level or above) may be applied toward master's course requirements.


The evaluation process involved the following stakeholders:

  • Program Faculty: Collaborated with the department chair and/or program director to determine eligible courses and provide rationales for substitutions.
  • Program Director/Department Chair: Made final decisions at the program and department levels regarding eligible courses, subject to further approval.
  • Academic Dean: Provided oversight and review to ensure alignment with academic standards and objectives.
  • Graduate Dean: Holds final authority for approval, ensuring alignment with institutional policies and academic excellence.
