Extended Meal Time Waiver- Exemptions

Federal Regulations regarding meal times:

7 CFR 210.10(l) Requirements for lunch periods. (1) Timing. Schools must offer lunches meeting the requirements of this section during the period the school has designated as the lunch period. Schools must offer lunches between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.

7 CFR 220.8(l) Requirements for breakfast period.

(1) Timing. Schools must offer breakfasts meeting the requirements of this section at or near the beginning of the school day.

Schools may request an exemption from these times from the State agency. Any breakfast meal served after 10 a.m. or lunch meal that is served to a student before 10 a.m. or after 2 p.m. without an exemption from CDE School Nutrition cannot be claimed for reimbursement.
