Role: Team Leader (Chief of Party) Nepal in Business Programme Location: The position will primarily be based in Nepal Anticipated start: Spring 2020 Chemonics International seeks a qualified individual for the role of Team Leader for a multi-year DFID-funded programme based in Kathmandu with operations in several regional provinces to fuel economic growth and create sustainable jobs in Nepal. The project anticipates creating 25,000 jobs by supporting the following industries: tourism, construction, ICT, manufacturing, and agro-processing. Technical areas of support include public-private partnerships, provincial/municipal administration, trade and investment promotion, enterprise-level assistance, manufacturing competitiveness. We are seeking an experienced leader with a proven track record managing complex economic development programs in developing countries, including responsibilities for large-scale budgets and teams. The successful candidate must have demonstrated experience leading formulation of industry strategies, promoting competitiveness, developing small and medium enterprises and achieving results in job creation. Strong grounding in expanding access to finance to businesses is essential, as well as facilitating adoption of a regulatory environment that would fuel growth. DFID and/or USAID project leadership experience is required. Responsibilities: • Overall programme management, leadership to meet contract objectives, effective client communication and stakeholder engagement, identifying and mitigating programme risks • Working in partnership with the Nepal In Business Home Office Director, the Team Leader will work with the project team and be responsible for the following: • Develop annual work plans and budgets in accordance with DFID annual planning cycle; and provide leadership and oversight to achieve project deliverables within the budget and timeline agreed • Lead implementation of technical assistance to governmental, not-for-profit and business partners with the goal of achieving project objectives • Manage a cadre of local and international technical experts and subcontractors • Identification of international best practices in economic development, particularly pertaining to selected sectors, and adapting them to Nepal’s needs Interested candidates meeting at least a substantial combination of the above requirements are encouraged to apply.
