COUNTY OF FAIRFAX

ENVIRONMENTAL QUALITY ADVISORY COUNCIL

STUDENT REPRESENTATIVE

APPLICATION

The Environmental Quality Advisory Council (EQAC) of Fairfax County is in the process of selecting a student member to serve on the council from July 2025 through June 2026.

EQAC is comprised of one representative from each of nine magisterial districts, four at-large members, and one student representative. Each member is appointed by the Board of Supervisors to serve a three-year term, except the student member, who serves during their junior or senior year of high school.

EQAC’s primary function is to make recommendations to the Board of Supervisors for improving environmental protection and enhancement, including preparing an annual report on the state of the physical environment in Fairfax County. During monthly meetings, topics such as land use, transportation, water, waste management, parks and ecological resources, climate and energy, air quality, and wildlife management are investigated.

The council generally meets in-person on the second Wednesday of each month, starting at 7:15 p.m. at the Fairfax County Government Center. More information about EQAC is available on EQAC’s webpage.

If you are currently a sophomore or junior in good standing and would be interested in serving in this capacity during your junior or senior year, please complete and submit the following application.
