As the Department of EMED Staff continues to grow, we want to ensure that new hires have all the tools to be successful. As part of this initiative, we would like to implement an Onboarding Buddy System. But what is an onboarding buddy? An onboarding buddy is a current EMED staff member who serves as a new hire’s support system through their onboarding experience and beyond. New employee onboarding buddies can assist new hires in acclimating to our Department and their specific roles. Please note that onboarding buddies do not necessarily serve as mentors. Rather, buddy systems are an informal onboarding support system which creates a flexible relationship that new hires may be more comfortable relying on for questions and concerns they are intimidated to ask.
