The Advance Program Level (APL) micro-credentials for Level 2 teachers advancing to Level 3 is a competency-based process that is made up of stacked courses, each focused on a discrete skill or area aligned with the four domains in Elevate NM, the educator evaluation system.
A micro-credential is earned when the stacked courses have been successfully completed, and the educator has demonstrated proficiency in the skill or area with a score of 85% or higher. The successful completion of each micro-credential will make an educator eligible to progress to the next micro-credential.
APLII-III consists of a series of four micro-credentials. Two micro-credentials are required, and teachers will select two others from a library of micro-credentials. The first required micro-credential is Social Emotional Learning. Teachers may enroll for only one micro-credential every 12 weeks. Each micro-credential costs $60.00, (the entire program cost is $240.00).
Each micro-credential for Level II teachers is self-paced with online quizzes to check for understanding. At the end of a micro-credential is a Mastery Component. The Mastery Component is a performance task designed to provide an opportunity for the teacher to demonstrate understanding of key concepts presented in the micro-credential. Mastery Component Reviewers are available to grade the Mastery Component and provide meaningful feedback to the teacher to enhance learning. Teachers will have an opportunity to resubmit the Mastery Component not meeting the expected score of 85% within a 10-day resubmission window. Reviewers will provide guidance as needed to assist in a successful resubmission of the Mastery Component.
