Notice of Rent Increase Submission

Please use this form to submit your notice of rent increase.

Please note:


  • Per Part C, Section 15-d of the HAP Contract - "The owner must notify the PHA of any changes in the amount of the rent to owner at least sixty days before any such changes go into effect, and the amount of the rent to owner following any such agreed change may not exceed the reasonable rent for the unit as most recently determined or redetermined by the PHA in accordance with HUD requirements."   • MPHA determines reasonable rent for the unit by identifying three comparable units within a two-mile radius.


  • If no comparable units can be identified, you will be notified and given the opportunity to provide comparable units.


  • If MPHA is determines that the rent increase is unreasonable, you will be notified of how much the increase is over, and given the opportunity to adjust the rent increase.


  • No increase in rent can be charged to the tenant without first being approved by MPHA.


  • Please make sure to check the box that says "Send me a copy of my responses" so that you can receive a copy of what you submitted to retain for your records.

Contract Rent Increase Submission


The effective date of this rent increase may not be approved.

Rent increases are required to be submitted a minimum of 60 days prior to the effective date. The information provided indicates that the effective date is less than 60 days from now.


While the tenant may have been notified or signed a lease renewal with 60-day notice, the HAP contract requires that the property owner provides a 60-day notice to MPHA.


If you previously submitted this increase to MPHA with a 60 day notice and can provide proof, then MPHA will honor the original submission. You can include that proof in the attachments below.

Per HUD Guidelines, MPHA must receive a minimum of 60 days notice for a Rent Increase to be approved.

This should be the same rent notice that the tenant received.
