BMR Interest List

Colonnade Apartments participates in a Below Market Rate (BMR) Housing Program. For more information, see the page below:

A limited number of BMR apartments exist at Colonnade Apartments. BMR apartments at Colonnade Apartments are offered to qualified applicants*. Please note that the program adheres to strict deadlines that must be met in order to be considered for a BMR apartment.


As of 2024, the Below Market Rates are as follows (subject to change annually - the following information is for reference only):

VERY LOW INCOME APARTMENTS

  • 1 Bedroom - $1,500
  • 2 Bedroom - $1,700


LOW INCOME APARTMENTS

  • 1 Bedroom - $2,600


The interest list remains closed as long as there are at least 10 people on the waiting list. When the waiting list drops below 10 people for any floor plan type, the interest list will open for a minimum of 30 days. When the interest list closes, apartments will be offered when they become available to those on the interest list based on the sorting order below:

This form does not in any way serve as a commitment for a BMR apartment. If you qualify based on the BMR program guidelines and would like to be considered for this program, please fill out the following information.

PRIORITY 1 (IN NO ORDER OF PREFERENCE)

  • Persons who are regular, full-time staff for School District or Charter School who have been employed by a school that serves Los Altos residents, including the following schools outside City limits: Springer Elementary, Mountain View High, Cupertino Jr. High, Homestead High School, Alta Vista High, and West Valley Elementary, for a period of no less than 12 months prior to the time of application.
  • Persons who are salaried City employees as defined in the City’s personnel rules, who have been employed by the City for a period of no less than 12 months prior to the time of application
  • Persons who are salaried Santa Clara County Fire Department employees who are assigned to the two fire stations located in the City of Los Altos.

PRIORITY 2 (IN NO ORDER OF PREFERENCE)

  • Persons who reside in the City at the time of application and who have lived in the City for at least the prior two years.
  • Persons who have lived in the City for at least two years and who have moved out of the City within the five years prior to the time of application.
  • Households which are required to relocate their residence as a result of Council action.
  • Persons whose parents or children live in the City at the time of the application and such persons have lived in the City at some prior time.

PRIORITY 3

  • Persons who work in the City at the time of application and have worked in the City for at least two years.

PRIORITY 4

  • Persons who work within Los Altos at the time of application.

PRIORITY 5

  • Persons who live or work within Santa Clara County at the time of application.


As of April 2, 2025, the Colonnade Apartments BMR interest list is open to all employees or residents who meet the above criteria. This form will close no earlier than Thursday, May 1, 2025 at 6:00 PM PT.
