Parents Encouraging Parents (PEP) Conference

NOTE: As of Monday, 01/08/2024, the May 2024 conference was full. If you register, your name will be placed on a wait list and you will be offered an opening if there is a cancellation. If there are no cancellations for May 2024, your name will be added to the waitlist for the 2024-2025 PEP year, and you will be notified when the dates, locations, and registration are available for 2024-2025.

PEP schedule is Friday: 9:00 am-7:30 pm and Saturday: 7:45 am-3:30 pm. This is a change from past in-person PEP conferences!


Lodging at hotel. The Colorado Department of Education (CDE) Exceptional Student Services Unit (ESSU) will pay for your conference registration and meals. The CDE also will pay for your lodging if you live more more than 50 miles from the hotel conference center. The number of miles has been changed from more than 35 to more than 50. A personal credit card is required at the hotel check-in desk for incidentals. Meals are for registered and confirmed PEP participants only; no infants, children, or non-registered adults will be permitted in any of the PEP sessions, small groups, or PEP dining areas. However, your family, children, caregivers, who are not registered to attend PEP, can stay in your room and enjoy the hotel amenities. They must provide their own meals.


PEP conferences are for parents*/guardians who have children with disabilities, aged 0-21; professionals who work with families with children with disabilities, aged 0-21; and for support persons who support parents raising a child(ren) with a disability or who are caretakers of the child(ren) with a disability in the family (can include a grandparent(s) or other relatives).


*A parent includes couples, single parents, legal guardians, adoptive, and foster parents.

PEP Conferences Guidelines

I understand that no children/babies are allowed in the PEP sessions, small groups or PEP dining areas.

I understand that meals are for registered and confirmed PEP participants only.

I understand lodging will be paid for if my commute is more than 50 miles from the hotel. All registered hotel guests must show a personal credit card for incidentals only.

I understand a certificate of attendance for 15 hours is available for attending the conference in its entirety, and will be emailed after the conference.
