Clinical Trialist Training Program (CTTP) Application 2025-27

Program Overview

The Clinical Trialist Training Program (CTTP) aims to increase the number of School of Medicine faculty who can be principal investigators on externally funded clinical trials through a 2-year partnership program with a senior investigator already running clinical trials.


Target Audience:

  • Faculty interested in serving as a principal investigator on clinical trials with an active clinical practice.
  • Applicant must have commitment from department chair or division chief to dedicate 10% FTE to clinical trial activities.
  • Applicant must have commitment from a senior investigator already engaged in clinical trials to serve as a mentor and support the mentee in developing an independent clinical trial portfolio.

Applicant Information

Required Document Uploads

1) Letter of Interest (1 page maximum). Briefly describe your interest in participation, area of clinical practice and populations you can enroll, and which senior investigator you would like to work with.


2) Mentor Information. Upload a letter of support from your mentor, including their qualifications (e.g., experience in actively conducting clinical trials, involvement in clinical trial design).


3) Department Chair Support / Department Chair's Name. Upload a letter of support from your Department Chair.


4) CV or NIH Biosketch. Upload your current CV or NIH biosketch.

CTTP / ACCTITP - Concurrent enrollment

As a CTTP mentee, you will automatically be enrolled in the first 11 weeks of the Alpha Clinic Clinical Trials Investigator Training Program (ACCTITP). This includes 19 lectures covering essential clinical trial knowledge for PIs and sub-PIs.


After completing these initial 11 weeks, you have the option to continue and complete the full ACCTITP certificate program, which involves additional coursework and clinical requirements.


  • The first 11 weeks (19 lectures) are included in your CTTP participation at no additional cost.
  • If you choose to complete the full ACCTITP certification, the cost would be $3,750 (50% of the full tuition).
  • The complete ACCTITP provides a comprehensive certificate in clinical trial management.
