Program Rules
The Host Family Volunteer Program Coordinator and his/her designee have the authority to establish rules and guidelines necessary for the operation of the program and if I violate these rules, I may be subject to disciplinary action which may include involuntary withdrawal from the Host Family Volunteer Program.
Standards of Conduct
As a participant in the Host Family Volunteer Program, I will comply with the College’s rules, standards and instruction for student behavior including the Student Code of Conduct. I agree that the College has the right to enforce the standards and conduct described herein, in its sole judgment, and that it may impose restrictions, up to and including removal and termination from the Program, as well as initiating disciplinary action under the Student Code of Conduct, for violating these standards or for behavior detrimental to or incompatible with the interest, harmony and welfare of the College, the Program or other participants.
Communication with LCCC
I understand it is my responsibility to maintain regular communication with LCCC’s Host Family Program Coordinator. I will inform the Program Coordinator, or his or her designee, of any questions, concerns, complaints with the Program, host family, or otherwise, as well as any emergency situations that may arise.
Risks of Host Family Volunteer Program/Liability Waiver and Release Agreement
I understand that the College does not make any representations about the safety, security or quality of character of Host Family participants. The College does not conduct background checks of Host Family participants or any evaluation of their homes/property.
I understand that participation in the Host Family Volunteer Program may involve risks not found in study at the College. These risks may include but are not limited to accidents; voluntary travel to and from locations with your host family; participation in off-campus host family activities that are not controlled by the College; different safety and accommodation standards; natural and weather disasters; criminal behavior; physical injury (including death), illness, damage or loss to me and or my personal property.
Knowing these risks, and in consideration for being permitted to participate in the Host Family Volunteer Program, I agree, on behalf of my family, heirs and personal representative(s), to assume all the risks and responsibilities surrounding my participation in the Program. I understand that, although the College has made every reasonable effort to assure my safety while participating in the Program, there are unavoidable risks in taking part in voluntary, off-campus programs and activities with Host families, individuals and providers who are not employed by the College, and I hereby release and promise not to sue the Laramie County Community College, its Board of Trustees, and the officers, employees or agents of any and all of them, for any damages or injury (including death) caused by, derived from, or associated with my participation in the Program, except for such damages or injury as may be caused by the gross negligence or willful misconduct of the officers, employees or agents of any of them.
Voluntary Program
I understand that my decision to take part in this program is voluntary and is not a requirement for completing my certification, degree or any academic program at LCCC.
Independent Activities
I understand that neither LCCC nor any of its agents will be supervising me at all times. By taking part in the Host Family Volunteer Program, I will clearly be arranging my own itinerary, activities and travel with my host family. During any independent activity or activity with my host family I will be responsible for my own safety and cannot hold LCCC liable for any injuries to my person or property as a result of my participation in the Host Family Volunteer Program.
Host Family Arrangements
I understand that LCCC does not represent or act as an agent for, and cannot control the acts or omissions of, any host family, transportation carrier, tour organizer, or other provider of goods and services involved in a program. I understand that LCCC is not responsible for matters beyond its control. I hereby release LCCC and any of its agents from any injury, loss, damage, accident, delay or expense arising out of such matters.
Personal Health and Safety
The College is not in a position to guarantee my personal health or safety during my participation in the Host Family Volunteer Program. I have consulted with a medical doctor with regard to my personal medical needs. There are no health-related reasons or problems which preclude or restrict my participation in the Program.
As a student, the College does not provide medical, property or personal liability insurance for me or my family and it is my responsibility to maintain such insurance for my benefit if I so desire. If I do not have insurance, I acknowledge that all costs resulting from injury will be borne by me and not the College.
The College may, but is not obligated to, take any actions regarding my health and safety that it considers to be warranted under the circumstances. I agree to pay all expenses relating thereto and release the College from any liability for such actions.
Miscellaneous Legal Provisions
- I agree, that should any provision or aspect of this Release be found unenforceable, that all remaining provisions of the Release will remain in full force and effect.
- I represent that my agreement to the provisions herein is wholly voluntary, and further understand that, prior to signing this Release, I have the right to consult with the adviser, counselor or attorney of my choice.

LCCC fully retains all immunities and defenses provided by law with regard to any action, whether in tort, contract or any other theory of law, based on this Contract. Designations of venue, choice of law, enforcement actions, and similar provisions should not be construed as a waiver of sovereign immunity. The parties agree that any ambiguity in this Agreement shall not be strictly construed, either against or for either party, except that any ambiguity as to sovereign immunity shall be construed in favor of sovereign immunity.
- This Release represents my complete understanding with the College concerning their responsibility and liability for my participation in the Host Family Volunteer Program. It supersedes any previous or contemporaneous understandings that I may have had with the College on this subject, whether written or oral, and cannot be changed or amended in any way without my written concurrence.
