CAS 101

This introductory overview of the Berkeley Laboratory's Contractor Assurance System (CAS) will provide a general understanding of CAS, its value, and how it’s applied at the Lab. Regardless of role, CAS 101 will help participants understand why CAS is a crucial element in the Lab’s continued success and how you play an important role in its implementation.


By the end of this training, participants will be able to:


  • Describe the GOCO/FFRDC model and the Tri-Party relationship
  • Understand the purpose of CAS and its relation to the Prime Contract (C31)
  • List some key CAS principles and objectives
  • Describe how CAS functions at LBNL
  • Understand CAS ownership and who is responsible for its implementation
  • Identify and apply CAS elements in your area of responsibility
