This form must be completed by current chapter leaders to reorganize an existing PMI chapter to allow for the creation of branches.


Submission of this form is required by PMI prior to undertaking the next steps in the reorganization process. Please note PMI will evaluate all reorganization requests and submission of this form does not guarantee the immediate reorganization of a chapter. Chapter Leadership Information

This form may only be completed by current members of the chapter's leadership, as reorganization of a chapter must be done with the approval of the chapter's Board of Directors.

This may include non-PMI volunteer experience, as well as Institute level roles held, or other PMI community roles held.

 
 

 

Chapter Reorganization Proposal

This section outlines the business case for reorganizing an existing chapter into the PMI chapter with branches model.


Answers need not be detailed but should include enough information to help PMI understand the needs in the area and demonstrate why moving to a chapter with branches model is the best solution for meeting these needs. All sections must be completed in order to submit the Chapter Reorganization Interest Form.

 
 

Please indicate the chapter's current geographic area of operations as defined in the Charter Agreement - Attachment A and/or the Component System (CS) on the Component Homepage under Chapter Geographical Mapping.

 
 

Please list the key stakeholders within the chapter's current or newly proposed area of operations. How does converting to a chapter with branch model benefit existing stakeholders?


For example: other PMI chapters, PMI Authorized Training Partners (ATPs), organizations, government agencies and academic/education institutions.

 
 

Think of this as the chapter’s mission statement – what is the chapter’s main focus?

 
 

Describe the value the chapter will deliver to the members, specifically, the anticipated opportunities for growth and supporting their professional journey.

 
 

Describe the value the chapter will deliver to the volunteers who will lead the chapter, specifically, the anticipated opportunities for personal and professional growth and delivering on those needs.

 
 

Describe the value the chapter will deliver to the existing communities (PMI and non-PMI).

 
 

Describe the value the chapter will deliver to PMI. How will this newly proposed chapter strengthen our community network?

 
 

Describe the chapter’s objectives in terms of the programs, initiatives, and services that will deliver on the value descriptions listed above. Indicate how a branch structure contribute to achieving these objectives.


Entries should not be detailed operational plans, just simple statements to be further defined later within the process.

 
 

Describe the environment of project management in the area of the proposed chapter. What is the level of project management maturity in the area? What are the leading industries and employers in the area? List any existing competitors for the chapter in the area. List any potential organizations for collaboration. What is the driving need to create branches?

 
 

List any legal, ethical, or cultural considerations which may impact chapter formation or continuing operations for which PMI should be aware.

  • What are the requirements for updating incorporation/registration documents in your area?
  • Are there cultural implications in creating a branch structure?
  • Is volunteerism a cultural norm in your area?
  • What is the primary or official language spoken in your area?
 
 

Provide a high-level overview for ensuring chapter growth and maturity over the next three years. Indicate how the creation of a branch structure contribute to these plans.

 
 

Identify any risks that may impact the chapter during and after reorganization of the chapter. For example: Willing volunteers to sustain branch operations, updating chapter governance documents or adjusting to a new operational structure.
