Individual Faculty Development Awards

The Office of Faculty Academic Affairs is proud to offer funding opportunities for faculty to pursue continued professional growth and development. Dell Med faculty members may apply for funds provided by the Office of Faculty Academic Affairs to participate in faculty development opportunities that will enhance a specific professional skillset or develop individual capacity to lead and drive impactful initiatives or projects in alignment with career goals.


We will award faculty with strong applications up to $8,000 to use towards participation in a faculty development program or activity.


Faculty Eligibility: Eligible faculty must hold a regular faculty appointment at Dell Med for at least one year (12 consecutive months) prior to applying for the award. Faculty eligible for awards include benefits eligible, Dell Med faculty with at least a 50% FTE appointment as a professional-track (Professor or Clinical title series) or tenured/tenure-track faculty member. All award recipients must be in good standing with the university.


Application and Expenditure Timeline*:

For this initial implementation in AY 24-25, the timeline for application submission, decisions, and expenditures are on the intranet site. *Please note: This means the program/event/training will need to take place and provide participants with receipts for reimbursement by our office between February (after 2/20), and August (no later than 8/20).

Summary (1000-word limit) describing the benefits and anticipated impact attendance of the program will have on the faculty member’s professional development & the Dell Medical School community. Must address the following:

  • How does this program align with your career goals?
  • How will this program (if applicable) support your progress toward promotion?
  • How will this training contribute to developing your individual capacity to lead impactful initiatives or projects at Dell Medical School?
  • How will knowledge garnered from the training be beneficial to the Dell Medical School community, your department, colleagues and/or students?
  • Will attending this program take extended, dedicated time away from Dell Medical School duties? If yes, how will those responsibilities be covered?
