Leadership Award Submission
DEADLINE APRIL 30, 2026
The purpose of the leadership awards is to celebrate the Special Olympics mission with stakeholders and the community.
Nominations may come from athletes, families, coaches, volunteers, schools and agencies.
Writing Tips:
The more information you are able to provide will impact the likelihood of the candidate being selected.
- Provide specific details, rather than general statements (e.g., Pat has been involved for 20 years. vs. Pat has been involved for a long time).
- Include as many facts as possible to support the nomination (e.g., As a coach, Pat has actively mentored more than 30 athletes during 15 years of volunteer service with Special Olympics Florida.)
- Use objective language rather than subjective:
- Example of objective: Pat has gone the extra mile for the athletes by forming car pools to take athletes home after practice. He has recruited one-on-one mentors for each of his 24 athletes at practice.
- Example of subjective: John really, really likes our athletes and has done a lot for them.
The nomination must paint a vivid picture of why this person/program/organization deserves to be recognized.
If you need assistance completing the nomination, please reach out to your Regional Director.
